As a proudly Canadian company, we can’t help but feel an extra bit of delight as the Canada Day weekend approaches. From end to end, our homeland has so much to offer and there are so many ways to commemorate our nation’s special day.
With health and wellness always top of mind, we have some suggestions on how to celebrate like a true Canadian, with a health-conscious twist.
Canada Day events always present a smorgasbord of unhealthy food choices and calorie-dense bevvies. Don’t deprive yourself completely, but try filling up on healthy salads, fresh fruits and lots of water. You’ll still enjoy all the food and drink, without feeling like you’ve overdone it.
Visit a farmers’ market. There you’ll find loads of fresh, seasonal produce to enjoy over the long weekend. Plus buying local and supporting our farmers is a distinctly Canadian thing to do!
We’re so lucky to live in Canada with its beautiful landscapes and outdoor adventures! Get active this long weekend. Hiking the trails, exploring a conservation area, canoeing or paddle boarding on a lake are just a few ways to enjoy fitness while paying homage to our home.
If urban explorations are more your scene, leave the car at home and do some biking or walking downtown. You’ll appreciate your surroundings more and get your workout in!
It’s no secret that Canadians like to celebrate. Parties on the patio, good times at the cottage, a night out on the town! Sign us up! We may not want to admit it, but sometimes all the hoopla leaves us feeling drained and deflated.
